Shurooq CEO Addresses Entrepreneurs in Al Qasba

H.E. Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), addressed a group of entrepreneurs during a gathering of the UAE Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) in Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier tourist, leisure and cultural destination.

The event, part of the EO’s monthly In The Boardroom (ITB) series – an initiative launched in 2008 to enable luminaries in both the public and private sectors to offer their personal and business insights – saw Shurooq CEO share his professional background, as well as his view on Sharjah and the UAE at large with a select group of EO members.

In addition to sharing professional highlights, Al Sarkal spoke about the challenges that were faced – and ultimately conquered – during the development of Al Qasba, the establishment of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority and his role as CEO today, as well as the development of a number of Shurooq’s projects.

Al Sarkal said: “I believe that Sharjah is a highly dynamic city, and a place where people can find equality, peace and community engagement. For me, the UAE is a country where nothing is impossible and where development has become continuous – this trend has shaped my ability to cope with rapid change.”

He stated that it is a combination of determination and motivation that have brought him to where he is, and he encouraged those in attendance to play to their strengths, form partnerships and embrace positive thinking.

Shurooq CEO added: “I have faith that life brings a lot of challenges which can be turned into valuable opportunities through organised leadership and team spirit.”

Mr. Fadi Fallaha, EO UAE Chapter Vice President said: “It was an inspiring presentation about Shurooq’s involvement, delivered by H.E. Marwan Al Sarkal, which tackled the redevelopment of the city of Sharjah. It was fascinating to see how Sharjah is being turned into a modern, cultural hub with the great influence and consideration to the historical architecture of the city.”

He went on: “At EO learning is the core essence of the organization where members are given the opportunity to learn from the experiences of likeminded individuals. Today’s ITB session was an example of such opportunities where we learned from the experiences of H.E. Marwan Al Sarkal.”
