Food Tech Startup connects commercial F&B suppliers to consumers

E-procurement platform Watermelon Market, introduces, Watermelon Home – a B2C marketplace app connecting consumers with food suppliers across the UAE previously only accessible to commercial operators.

Encouraging consumers to ‘cut out the middleman, buy from the source,’ Watermelon Home fosters direct engagement with restaurant quality suppliers on a user-friendly, accessible platform – a first in the region. Minimum order volumes and quantity vary across suppliers with direct delivery often within 24 hours. Access to industry-grade producers including; Waynik by Safco, Global Beverages FZC LLC, Aramtec, Asaadi Supermarket and Golden Loaf Bakery, will allow consumers to add a professional element to their home cooking.

Having successfully launched an all-in-one industry solution to simplify inventory management for F&B commercial suppliers and outlets with Watermelon Market, entering the B2C market was always a part of the firm’s plans.

“As someone who has built a career around F&B, consumer interest for restaurant grade products has always existed. However, obtaining the goods often fell to consumers, making the process intricate.  We saw the need for a trusted, transparent and verified network to connect suppliers directly with consumers. With our team’s collective background within the industry and across evolving technology, we were well-positioned to create a stellar product and fill a gap within the space,” said Omar AlShamsi, CEO, and Co-Founder, of Watermelon Market.

Aligning with market shifts and with an influx of artistic and talented food-forward social media feeds, consumers want the same products as their favourite restaurants to use at home. Watermelon Home both addresses and meets this need with a simple easy-to-use solution.
