Oman’s Information Technology Authority (ITA) organized recently an introductory workshop on “Accreditation Program for IT Service Providers” at ITA’s headquarters. This program targets all IT service providers offering their services to the public administrative units in the sultanate, including: government entities and government-owned companies.
During the two-day workshop, the program was introduced as an integrated system that can enhance the Omani economy and provide new opportunities for Omani startups and elevate the quality of services provided by IT service providers in the Sultanate. The pilot phase of the program, which will focus on security assessment and cloud hosting services, and the development of national standards by the Authority, which contain basic requirements that service providers will be required to commit to in cooperation with the stakeholders, were highlighted.
It is worth mentioning that, ITA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has enabled the Invest Easy platform to receive accreditation applications and provide permits to service providers covered by the program, as well as collaborating with technical partners to evaluate the service providers’ compliance with ITA’s standards as a prerequisite for submitting accreditation applications.
