My Startup World speaks to Jijo Olassa, the CEO at Verbat Technologies, about his company, the services it offers and the future plans
How did Verbat start its journey and what was the objective to start this venture?
Verbat is a digital technology services company delivering internet and mobile solutions to enterprises, through agile development and application management methodologies. Our primary expertise is in Microsoft, open source, mobile and cloud technologies.
Unlike a traditional startup, we are a coming together of senior IT industry professionals and smaller niche digital technology focused companies to create a scalable entity which will eventually have product spin offs. We leverage our innovation ecosystem to bring disruptive thinking to next-generation digital technology services and products.
Verbat provides digital technology consulting and services to its customers across the globe via its offices in the USA, UK, UAE, and India.
What is the vision and core values of Verbat?
Technology is evolving too fast and to continue to thrive as a business we must look ahead. That’s what our 2020 vision is all about and it provides a roadmap for us and also for our partners to keep succeeding together.
Our core values lie in thinking differently, where every member of the team is an entrepreneur and is mentored to be an achiever who can also contribute back to the society with his knowledge and success.
How is the company funded?
We are a privately funded company and the company does not rely on any outside investor.
For any startup, attracting and retaining talent is the biggest challenge. So how are you tackling this issue?
Although we are a very young organization and a startup company, the effort behind creating Verbat has a rich history that operates on a global scale and covers major markets such as Middle East, Americas, Europe and India. This has led us to respectability, scalability, and stability that is extremely important to attract and retain talent.
What kind of problems do you typically get to solve?
Verbat’s technical expertise enables businesses to seamlessly engage across digital channels with the tech savvy, demanding customers of today. Our solutions enhance customer touchpoint, increase customer engagement and provide better customer understanding through use of digital technologies.
Verbat also helps drive operational excellence through integrated, pertinent business technology solutions. We service enterprises across retail, travel, financial services and manufacturing industries.
What about competition and what is your key differentiation?
We compete with established technology service providers trying to enter the digital technology space. We have a unique ability to leverage the experience of global CIOs and an Innovation Ecosystem, combined with proven agile development and application management expertise to bring disruptive thinking to digital services and products.
Which markets do you service today and how do you manage projects originating from markets you do not have a physical presence in?
We are currently present in USA, UK, UAE and India. Given our global delivery model, we are able to service customers from across the globe, even in markets where we are not present directly. We also work with partners in certain markets to give us an extra edge, if required.
Where does the company intend to be in one year’s time?
We are quite positive about 2016 and beyond, which is why we have devised an aggressive strategy to grow at a faster pace. To enable high growth, we are looking to expand our footprint not just in Middle East but also in other major markets.
We are willing to join hands with like-minded business partners in Middle East, Africa, North America and Europe markets. To this end we have already signed few strategic partnerships and few more alliances are on its way that will help fuel the growth of new business for us and also for our partners.
