Protiviti Workshop Provides Insight on Changing Focus of Internal Audit

The impact on internal audit functions of rapidly changing markets, business needs, management expectations and emerging risks was discussed at a workshop conducted by the Qatar member firm of Protiviti, during the Institute of Internal Auditor’s (IIA) 2013 National Conference.
The Middle East Member Firm of Protiviti is a market leader in providing internal audit, corporate governance, risk management, business, technology and human capital consulting, fraud investigation, transaction and corporate finance services.

The workshop titled “What is the right audit to do next?” was delivered by Andy Cross, Protiviti Qatar’s Internal Audit & Risk Services Director. Attended by over 250 conference participants, the Protiviti workshop was a platform to share knowledge and practical insights for the participants to increase the value of their internal audit function by auditing the right risks at the right time to deliver quality in accordance with professional standards.

During the workshop, Andy shared insights and facilitated discussion about how to perform an internal audit risk assessment and prepare a risk focused plan.

Andy said, “Chief Audit Executives are being challenged by Boards, Governance bodies and professional standard setters to deliver greater value and quality. Introducing flexible internal audit plans that focus activity on critical and emerging business risks are essential to responding to this challenge.”

We will continue to conduct more workshops and trainings devoted to different aspects of internal audit and risk management to support the requirements within the Qatar business community for continuing professional development.”
