MobileConnect from audio specialist Sennheiser provides live audio streaming to mobile devices for the very first time. The universal system uses a Wi-Fi connection to stream lip-sync audio content to the user’s smartphone, which has an app that instantly converts it into a mobile receiver. Applications are unlimited: whether it is in a theatre, a museum, a sports stadium or a company – MobileConnect can be quickly and easily installed and is also cost-efficient in use.
“Smartphone penetration figures in the Middle East exceed the global average making this an ideal market for this solution. For companies, it is an extremely cost effective means of connecting with their audience and also exploits the fact that users are far more comfortable leveraging their own devices as has been proven by the BYOD trend,” said Mig Cardamone, Director of Sales and Marketing at Sennheiser Middle East.
MobileConnect consists of a streaming server and a specific wireless LAN router. The system provides a closed network that users can connect to from their smartphone. The selected audio data are transferred to the device via the MobileConnect multi-channel app, thus enabling users to play the content conveniently through headphones. And the user-friendliness of the system is not limited only to the front end: MobileConnect can be installed in a few easy steps and is ready for use immediately.
“We are proud to be able to present our customers with really innovative streaming-based technology in the form of MobileConnect,” said Andy Niemann, Director Business Communication at Sennheiser. “This solution will enable our customers to simply use their own smartphones to receive audio contents in the future. They obviously know how to use their own device best of all and merely have to download the free MobileConnect app to their smartphone. At the same time, event organisers are no longer faced with the cost of providing, renting and maintaining the audio devices.” But cost-efficient application is not the only feature that makes MobileConnect interesting for integrators, companies or event organisers: “Additional features such as assistive listening in theatres, the provision of an audio track for silent screens in airport waiting lounges or simultaneous interpreting for public performances mean that MobileConnect enables our customers to upgrade and expand their range of possibilities,” Niemann added.
Furthermore, the MobileConnect innovative streaming solution offers universal application. It can even be used in situations in which audio transmission has until now been impossible or only very limited. It opens up completely new opportunities in the field of digital signage as well as in many areas of assistive listening. System houses and integrators can therefore not only offer their existing customers an innovative solution for familiar application scenarios, but they can also acquire completely new customers.
To give its regional customers a hands-on demonstration of the new MobileConnect solution, as well as its ADN-W and TeamConnect audio conference systems, Sennheiser will host an event on the 10th of September 2015 at the Meydan Hotel in Dubai.
