The Dubai Entrepreneurship Academy within Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, has announced the opening of registrations to the fourth batch of its Entrepreneurship Diploma programme.
The bilingual diploma programme, approved by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai is led by specialist trainers in various disciplines of entrepreneurial skills as well as business development and aims to equip potential entrepreneurs with practical knowledge in launching their own enterprises and managing it successfully.
The Arabic sessions will start on the 24th of February and run till the 29th of April while candidates registering for the English programme will attend their sessions from the 3rd of March to 8th of May 2014. Each programme will have 29 training sessions.
Ibtihal Al Naji, Director of Companies Development at Dubai SME, commented that the Entrepreneurship Diploma has brought in positive changes in the skills set of the local entrepreneur community and added substantial value to the local market as a whole.
“Those enrolling in the diploma programme go through a series of workshops and training sessions that emphasise on practical learning. Each of these experiences are designed based on the needs of local entrepreneurs and the challenges they face in starting and growing a business,” Al Naji said.
The two-month diploma focuses on exposing candidates to the real world of business and encouraging them to adopt a hands-on approach to every aspect of doing business. The programme keeps evolving in terms of content and promote entrepreneurial talent to achieve world-class competencies.
Participants in the programme learn to create well-defined business plans, translate them into actual projects and lead them to success through strategic management, marketing, and accounting. Towards the end of the programme each candidate develops his/her own business plan, which is assessed and graded by the instructors.
“Through the diploma programme we aim to enable potential entrepreneurs in the country to translate their ideas into real business projects. Candidates in the programme also become confident and capable of advancing their businesses through different levels of growth and implementing the change they seek,” added Al Naji.
The course faculty comprises leading industry practitioners and successful entrepreneurs, thus ensuring a peer-to-peer learning and sharing of experience as well as meaningful brainstorming between instructors and students.
