Startup Idea: Detachable Adapter That Helps Cyclists Securely Clip Large Crates To Their Bikes

While cyclists are typically free to go anywhere they please on their two wheels, one downside is that they’re limited as to what they can carry with them.

In the past, we’ve seen the Springtime picnic basket, which triples as a bike pannier and table and chair set, but now the Netherlands’ Fietsklik is a detachable adapter that helps cyclists securely clip even large crates to their bike.

The primary part of the Fietsklik system is an adapter called the Klik, which can be installed above the rear wheel on almost any bike frame. The company has also created a crate that can be instantly secured onto the Klik.

The crate is big enough to hold 24 bottles of drinks and is made of durable polypropylene, and can be locked to the bike or quickly disconnected in order to be carried. It comes with an extendable handle and wheels for easy transport and can be folded down when not in use.

The Klik also works with three types of bag — messenger, pannier and laptop — as well as a baby seat, which are being developed by the Fietsklik team. The video below explains more about the system:

The Fietsklik adapter and crate can be pre-ordered for $99 until the Kickstarter campaign ends 2 May. Are there other ways to streamline all of the extra equipment typically involved in carrying goods via bicycle?
